The rally also witnessed the entry of seasoned politician M P Prakash. Although the former JD-S leader had joined the Congress formally last week, he was officially welcomed into the party on Sunday amidst fanfare.
Prakash spoke out against the manner in which the JD-S and the BJP had played the dirtiest politics in the history of Karnataka. On joining the Congress, he said that wisdom had dawned upon him late, thus giving an indication that his heart was with the party for a long time.
Others present at the rally included Union ministers of state Oscar Fernandes, M V Rajashekharan and K H Muniyappa, former Union ministers C K Jaffer Sharrief and Janardhan Poojary, and former chief minister Dharam Singh.
