Congress shows its strength in K'taka

March 16, 2008
One thing that is very evident and will be Congress' main thrust while battling elections in the state will be the recently presented Union Budget by the United Progressive Alliance government headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Apart from launching an attack on both the Janata Dal-Secular and the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress vowed to run a pro-people government and added that they were hopeful of a good performance during the elections.

Congress observer for Karnataka and AICC general secretary Prithviraj Chavan too harped on the same point, stating that the party was never in favour of delaying the polls. He said that the Congress did not wish to continue with President's rule in the state for long and was raring to face the elections.
