Leader of the Congress in Karnataka and its chief ministerial candidate, Mallikarjuna Kharge said the party had sought the deletion of 60 lakh bogus voters for the electoral rolls in the state.
He also questioned as to why both the JD-S and the BJP had never raised the issue.
During the rally, Krishna was conspicuous by his absence despite being appointed in-charge of election management and coordination committee in Karnataka by the party high command.
While several within the party maintain that Krishna will be joining the party campaign in a day or two, leaders close to the former governor told rediff.com that he is reportedly miffed with the fact that the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee had omitted his name from the list of invitees for the programme.
Leaders at the rally did mention that Krishna could not make it for the event despite being invited. However, there was no special mention about Krishna's role when he joins the campaign. Others who were absent included Maharaja of Mysore, Srikanta Dattta Narasimharaja Wodiyar and former state chief minister Veerappa Moily. Wadiyar is reportedly upset with certain policies of the Congress.
