The Congress in Karnataka entered into election mode on Sunday by kick-starting its Jan Andolan programme at Mysore. It was clearly a show of strength by a set of Congress leaders, who were out to prove a point.
There was lot of hype surrounding the rally. But is the Congress was ready to face the election? Time and again, party leaders have openly expressed their apprehensions about holding an early election. Also, former chief minister S M Krishna's return to active politics in Karnataka has evoked a mixed response within the party.
The Congress can take pleasure out of the fact that Sunday's rally in Mysore was a massive success. All Congress leaders present said they were never against delaying polls. All they wanted was the voters' list to be cleaned up.
