President launches E-Passport

Technology has left no field untouched and now even the passport goes hi-tech. President Pratibha Patil launched the E-passport scheme in New Delhi on Wednesday.External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee presented the country's first E-passport to the President. Also called biometric passports, this e-passport carries a chip that includes entire personal information, including fingerprints, of the holder.
