aj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists clashed with Samajwadi Party supporters near a rally organised by the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) in Mumbai on February 3.
The clashes took place before the start of the rally at the historic Shivaji Park where top leaders of UNPA, including Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, were to speak.
Activists of both political parties assembled outside the Plaza Cinema in Dadar and indulged in stone pelting. Five cars were also damaged in the incident.
The clash comes after actress and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan's retaliation to MNS President Raj Thackeray's statement against her husband and superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
The issue later snowballed into a major crisis in the state. The Centre has even threatened to arrrest Raj Thackeray while the Maharashtra government was dilly-dallying. The move drew strong reactions from across the country.
