Over 200 persons have lost their lives -- and they aren't done counting yet.

The dead include ordinary people who happened to be walking down a street or waiting for a train or ordering a meal in a restaurant; policemen who spent their brief lives trying to keep us safe; ATS officers who risked death every day to find and foil those who would kill us; hotel employees who worked endless hours catering to our comfort; a Rabbi and his wife looking forward to celebrating their son's second birthday; tourists who came to marvel at the wonder that is India...

Death came at random; killed people at random, and left us behind to pick up the pieces.

In our grieving minds echo the words of a familiar song: Your candle burned out long before your legend ever did.

Their lives may have been snuffed out, but the memory of what they did in life and stood for in death never will.

Honor that memory. Light a candle. It burns for them -- but it also burns for us.
