Hyderabad twin blasts: A year later

August 25, 2008
Today one could say that life has come full circle. The people of Hyderabad have forgotten about the incident and the only thing that reminds them that their city had been attacked is the enhanced security across the city.

Gokuk Chat, a very famous eatery in Hyderabad, was covered in a pool of blood last year with bodies all over the place. Terrorists had chosen Gokul Chat due to the immense number of people who visit that place.

After the incident, the place remained closed for nearly three months. An employee at Gokul Chat told rediff.com that business is back to normal, but also added that it took quite some time before the crowds returned.

A walk through Gokul Chat gives one a strange feeling and prompts us to ask ourselves a question. What has happened to this country? Is it so bad that we need to be frisked before we can enjoy a paani puri? Yes, security is tight at Gokul Chat with metal detectors and security personnel.

Before going in, a person is frisked thoroughly and only then allowed inside. However, this has not stopped the customers from visiting this place.
