Rain fury brings misery in Andhra Pradesh

August 10, 2008
Normal life remained paralyzed in many parts of the state capital as the lakhs of people were trying to cope up with the floods in their areas. Hundreds of houses in Maqta Madar and Nadeem Colony areas remained under water.

In Greater Hyderabad, where 42 colonies have been inundated since Saturday and 5000 people were staying in temporary relief camps of the state government, three persons died when their house collapsed in Alwal area. The victims were buried alive in the debris of the mud house.

The situation was equally bad in the neighbouring Ranga Reddy district. Ten tanks in Serilingampally and Kukatpally were full to the capacity and there was a threat of their breaching. The administration has evacuated the people from the low lying areas.
