There are 103 tunnels (one is closed) on this line and the longest tunnel is at Barog and extends 3,752 ft. It is named after the engineer who built and it is believed that he committed suicide after constructing the tunnel because of the dissatisfaction he felt with the alignment of the tunnel.
~Would you believe it? There exist 864 bridges between Kalka and Shimla and one of the most spectacular is bridge 493 with its multi-level arched viaducts.
~The 20 stations along the way are also tiny and toy like, each a museum in its own right.
~If you take a ride on the Kalka-Shimla Railway your train will make 919 sharp curves... So count them!
