'Clean' Karnataka poll is bad for business

April 28, 2008
Usually, my work commences a month before the election process starts. However, I don't have any work now in spite of the polls being around the corner," says Swamy.

Arif points out that unlike the 2004 polls, none of the parties have approached them for custom made T-shirts, badges and stickers. "Most of the leaders told us that they will not be able to spend much this year due to the ceiling imposed by the Election Commission," says Arif.

Business may pick up in the coming weeks, hopes Arif, after leaders across party lines start campaigning. "But right now, it doesn't seem like we will be able to earn anything much," he adds dejectedly.
