'Clean' Karnataka poll is bad for business

April 28, 2008
Even plastic flags have been banned. Party flags on campaign cars will be allowed only if the party workers obtain the ECI's prior permission.

According to the ECI directive, banners can be put up only two hours before a public rally and they should be taken off as soon as the rally gets over.

To make matters worse, the EC has clamped a Rs 10 lakh ceiling on the election expenditure of each candidate.

Most party workers are avoiding the use of banners and resorting to door-to-door campaigning, says Manjunath Swamy of Sun Banners in Bangalore.
