Ahead of winding up his 6-day tour of the United States, Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday paid a visit to the site where the majestic twin towers of the World Trade Centre once stood.
Offering prayers at the site, known today as Ground Zero, in New York, the pontiff pleaded for an end to sectarian hatred.
Nearly 3,000 people had lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
