After two days of Congress-hijacked brouhaha, Sunita Williams met with the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had stayed away from the astronaut, publicly ignoring her -- and this isn't because he's anti-NASA.
Former home minister Hiren Pandya -- who was assassinated in March 2003 -- was a bone in Modi's side, and Pandya's family clearly implicated Modi's hand in the death. So while Gujarat was tom-tomming Sunita pride, Modi stayed away.
On Saturday, all speculation about confrontation and friction melted away as Modi welcomed Williams at a function in Gujarat University.
Based on their first on-stage moment together, they seem to be getting along pretty okay.
