Indians take to the streets of Kuala Lumpur
November 26, 2007
Ethnic Indians are the second largest minority in Malaysia, following the Chinese, and are also among the most underprivileged with two-thirds of the Indian community living in poverty. Sunday's rally was the largest seen in Malaysia in the last decade involving ethnic Indians.
A similar protest was carried out in Kuala Lumpur on November 10, with
thousands taking to the streets and demanding electoral reforms. The
police used similar force to disperse the crowds in that rally which
lasted only a few hours.
