On issue of coalition politics, Sonia said that 'positive co-operation' is the necessity of coalition politics. But she clarified that her party refuses to surrender its political space while working within a coalition.
"Coalition means positive support from all sides. But working in a coalition does not mean that we lose our political space forever," Sonia said.
Anti-incumbency is not something that is bound to happen or something that cannot be avoided, the Congress president said, adding that the outcome of some recent assembly elections has revealed that the sympathy of people towards the party has not been translated into votes.
On the Indo-US nuclear deal, the Congress chief said, "The prime minister had assured that the deal will not affect strategic nuclear programme. The UPA and its allies have divergent views on the nuclear deal, but efforts are on to evolve consensus through talks."
Sonia also tried to 'sell' the nuclear deal with US as the deal, which will get more electricity. She pointed out that the deal will bring electricity for agriculture, industry and for cities and villages of India. She repeated her previous assertion that it would have no impact on India's atomic programme.
While giving her assessment of the three years of UPA government, the Congress president had one regret -- the UPA government was still unable to fulfill Rajiv’s vision of women's quota.
