Life in West Bengal has been paralysed by Monday's calls for protests against the Nandigram violence.
Trinamool Congress has called for an indefinite Bangla Halt from Monday to protest the violence in the area. The Bharatiya Janata Party has pitched in with a 48-hour bandh while the Congress and the Socialist Unity Centre of India have also called for a 24-hour bandh.
However, the three constituents of the ruling Left Front -- the Communist Party of India, the All India Forward Bloc and the Revolutionary Socialist Party, have decided to oppose the bandh calls.
