All private television channels have been banned. As a result, a large number of people in Pakistan are totally in the dark.
The security personnel have also begun a crackdown on the press with the office of the Urdu daily Jang being raided in Karachi. Judges of the supreme and high courts, who refused to take oath under the new chief justice, have been put under house arrest.
