Protestors beaten, arrested

The police in Pakistan began a brutal crackdown against protesting lawyers and human rights activists in Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Quetta. Rallies oraganised by the lawyers were tear gassed and they were badly beaten and arrested by the police.
There were large scale arrests of lawyers and retired judges. Over 500 lawyers were arrested in Lahore.
