Sikhs in US appeal to Pak govt

November 6, 2007
Sikhs living in the United States have appealed to the Pakistani government to provide security for their counterparts in the wake of imposition of emergency there.

Sikhs are a minority in Pakistan with their roots dating back to the pre-India-Pakistan partition era.

Meanwhile US President George W Bush urged Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Monday to quickly lift a state of emergency, hold elections and quit his military post.
