The all-encompassing nature of the festival is evident from the fact that people from all walks of life -- be it rich or poor, young or old, men or women -- celebrate the occasion with fervour.
Though celebrations vary according to region, religion and local tradition, colours bind everyone to a feeling of togetherness without inhibitions.
