'What America achieves in five years, we take 50 years to reach'

July 17, 2007
WWhat are the differences you have seen between India and America?

Americans have more discipline. Look at the roads and the traffic discipline in the US. It is not there in India. What America achieves in five years, we take 50 years to reach.

There are problems like population explosion. We have four times the population of America, but we have much less land compared to the US. There are problems like terrorism, secessionism, caste conflicts, etc. The recent problem in Rajasthan with the Gujjar community is a suitable example of caste conflict.

What are the hopes for India?

With all its problems, India is still rising. It cannot be stopped. Our heritage is rooted in spiritual principles, unlike in the West. In America one can see that problems like violence, abortion and other maladies are very rampant.

Abortion is used as a method of population control. Are you against it?

I am against it. I don't support violence.

How is India moving forward?

We have overcome many problems over the years. The day when we become a world power is not far. America has a heritage of a few hundred years only, while our heritage and systems are based on thousands of years. The nation will rise, I am sure about it.

Why do you oppose sex education in schools?

Sex is not a subject that needs teaching in schools. It is a natural process that needs no training. No other creature on the world goes to school for sex education. Then why is it necessary in schools? Morality cannot improve with teaching sex education in schools. AIDS cannot be prevented by talking (about) free sex and by using condoms.
