In Gujarat, go fly a kite

January 12, 2007
Modi, directing snide remarks at party detractors and the opposition, urged them to participate in the developmental process rather than in the "destructive activity of cross-kiting".

"As the kite soars into the sky, so is our state making its way to the global horizon. We are here to tread new areas, create new ideas and make the world take notice of our achievements,'' he said, addressing the crowd gathered that included 59 foreigners from 21 different countries and 62 persons from other states invited to participate in the five-day festival.

"Vibrant Gujarat is a means to bring new consciousness among the masses. We are trying to create a way for our people to revel in the joy. Those who try to bring down the soaring kite will be beaten by their own stupidity. I would rather invite them to be a part of the development process, rather than becoming hindrances," he said.
