Daughter of Pakistan
December 28, 2007
Poised, charismatic and ambitious, but exceedingly courageous Benazir Bhutto, 54, prime minister of Pakistan from 1988 to 1990 and from 1993 to 1996, made history when she became the first elected woman head of state of a Muslim country.
Always styling herself as the daughter of Pakistan, Benazir considered herself a crusader for democracy and the nation's hope against extremism, promising severe crackdowns if she came to power.
