The meat market presented a horrifying scene. Bones and carcasses lay around even as a boy working in the municipal corporation sprayed disinfectants. In contrast, the pet market was colourful. The number of birds and the variety on offer was mind boggling. The puppies in the next shop were playful even in their small cages. They looked well-fed and happy.
The fish in the small tanks were also impressive in their numbers. The vegetable market, which is outside the main market in an open area covered with a temporary roof, looked dirtier than the inner area.
