The star-spangled manner

December 10, 2007
The battle for Iowa, in the ongoing race to capture the Democratic nomination for the presidential election of 2008, is currently taking a back seat to the battle for Hollywood.

Leading contenders Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama are now locked in a race to sign up the maximum celebrity endorsements - and Obama took an early lead when he roped in talk show diva Oprah Winfrey onto his bandwagon.

Late November, Time magazine's `most influential woman of the century' announced that she was putting her considerable clout behind the Obama campaign for the Democratic nomination, and in doing so flagged off what promises to be a hugely entertaining battle.
