Snoring under Atalji's nose
April 23, 2007
Amid the fallen shutters, we're hit by a burst of saffron and a lotus symbol, and right there, above Prince Dry Cleaners and sandwiched between two garment storefronts is a hoarding proclaiming the local BJP office.
Another glance shows us a decked up bha-ja-pa van, quiet as a dormouse -- proof of which lay, in the guise of a sleeping young volunteer, on the floorboards of the vehicle, right under the pictured BJP top brass.
It is just as we are merrily shooting the groggy BJP-men that the party's District Undersecretary Dilip Yadav and a colleague come over and introduce themselves. They say the BJP isn't working too hard on a day like today because they don't feel they have to. "There is a rally at four," Yadav's colleague visibly stifles a yawn, "but nothing right now. Which is why things are so quiet."
