France is voting for a new President.
A record 44.5 million voters cast their votes on Sunday, April 22, the highest turnout in 50 years, in the opening round of the election.
The first round threw up two finalists -- Conservative leader Nicolas Sarkozy and Socialist Segolene Royal.
Sarkozy, who polled 31.1 per cent votes in the first round, may be ahead of Royal (who won 25.8 per cent of the vote), but the final vote next fortnight could go either way.
