he day of visarjan -- which happens to be the 11th day of Ganesh Puja in 2006 -- is truly the happiest day of the year for the city of Mumbai.
Joyful Ganesh bhaktas pour onto the streets, in millions, to bid their favourite god good-bye.
Offices close early and Mumbai's roads are packed out with processions of Ganeshas -- giant, medium and small -- making their way to the water's edge, instead of the usual rush hour traffic. Gulal (red colour) flies and music, song and dance happens. Ganesh Visarjan is Mumbai's biggest bash.
