October 04, 2006
The Frankfurt Book Fair -- or Frankfurter Buchmesse as it is called in Germany -- is the world's largest such trade fair, held annually in mid-October. It attracts representatives from publishing and multimedia companies worldwide, all gathering to negotiate publishing rights and licensing fees.
In 2004 alone, over 12,000 journalists from 92 countries covered the event. There were 6,691 individual exhibitors, 79 national exhibitions and a staggering 180,000 trade visitors. Over a mere five days, there were 270,413 visitors.
