he vast expanse of saffron fields on either side of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway bisecting the historical town of Pampore in south Kashmir is all colour and fragrance right now.
Saffron flowers are the reason for this rare annual spectacle, which however lives exists for just two to three weeks.
As millions of saffron plants are in full bloom, memories about a legendary royal romance are kindled in the minds of those who come here to see this riot of colour.
