But not everyone's happy with a new train to Tibet.
Some feel the place will be mysterious no longer. Many Tibetans believe the railway will not benefit them, and will only strengthen China's control over Tibet instead. They feel that most of those who enjoy the benefits of economic development are Chinese migrants in Tibet and that whatever they earn goes to mainland China.
Tibetan Freedom activists are of the opinion that it will encroach upon the region's freedom and dilute Tibetan culture.
