Summer, cruel, summer

'2 hours of water in 4 days, no power for 10 hrs every day'

Manish Singh
Dhamaniya
Tehsil Mandalgarh
District Bhilwara
Rajasthan

I live in Dhamaniya where the power cut is for 10 hours every day. People are fed up with this situation. They prefer to stay at home most of the time in the afternoon because one can die in the scorching heat.

There is an acute water shortage too. Water reaches Dhamaniya by a goods train, only then one can get water at home.

We get water for two hours once in four days.

The ponds over here have dried up and there will be no sign of rain till August.

I work in a bank but customers prefer staying at home due to the heat wave and don't venture out for bank work.

I don't think the heat wave conditions will improve in the near future. One has to have more trees in our area but again you need a lot of water to plant them. This is not the problem of Bhilwara alone but for the rest of India.

Rajasthan is a dry state but other states are facing the same problem.

I feel it is unfortunate that our country's rivers have not been linked properly. People in Maharashtra and Gujarat die due to floods but in Rajasthan they die due to lack of water. It is a tragic situation for our country.

How is the summer in your town? Tell us!
