Honouring Indian excellence

Renowned architect Charles Correa received the Padma Vibhushan award.

Over the last four decades, Correa has done pioneering work on urban issues and low-cost shelter in the Third World. He is a renowned architect, planner, activist and theoretician, and has emerged as a major figure in contemporary architecture worldwide.

The Padma Vibhushan award was conferred upon former Chief Justice of India Visheshwar Nath Khare.

Justice Khare is remembered for the Best Bakery case ruling where he ordered that the controversial case be transferred out of Gujarat so that the victims may get justice. He had also reprimanded the Gujarat government for its inability to deliver justice to victims of the Gujarat riots.

He truly reaffirmed the well known dictum : Justice must not only be done, it must be seen to be done.
