As the years rolled by, she found the countryside changing, with villagers looking to the cities for inspiration. "It should have been the other way round, according to me."

It was a dream fulfilled for Deborah when she started the Madras Craft Foundation 22 years ago, with the object of promoting and preserving South India's diverse heritage through arts, including performing arts, and craft.
