The year 1928 has arrived!

For Maharashtrians there are three and half sadetin or fixed muhurats or auspicious days in a year.

The first is Gudi Padva. Then in April is Akshya Tritiya or the third day of the bright fortnight of Baisakh. The third is Dusshera. And the half day is Balipartipada or a padva during Diwali.

Since Gudi Padva brings the new year it is believed to be one of the most auspicious days by Maharashtrians.

Hence it is considered an excellent day to buy a car, to start a new business, purchase a house or buy jewellery like this young woman has done (left).
