At a 30-minute meeting at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York between the US President and his Indian counterpart, President Bush expressed his concern over Iran's nuclear programme.

India's support for Iran's nuclear programme has annoyed many US Congressmen, whose support is critical for the nuclear deal with India sailing through Congress.

The prime minister reiterated India's consistent stand in this regard, of resolutely opposing weapons of mass destruction, and said there would be no exception.

Dr Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Singh alight from the flight at JFK Airport in New York. The prime minister was received by UN Ambassador Nirupan Sen and his wife.
