Hope and Succour
The film industry has opened its hearts, and purse-strings, at this hour of crisis. Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi's family, for one, has adopted Devanapattinam, near Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu, which lost over 600 lives in the tragedy.
Others like actor Rahul Bose and writer Amitava Kumar spent the new year with tsunami victims in the islands of Andaman and Nicobar sharing their grief.
