"No government agency came to help us," he adds. "It is a shame that even after a week, no one has turned up to ask us how we are doing. I wonder what the Disaster Management Group is doing. No one tells us when electricity will be restored and when we will get clean tap water."

Water receded from most ground floor apartments in many areas in Kurla only on Tuesday morning.

"We are using tanker (water tankers provide water in many ares of Mumbai which face water shortage) water today. This is the first time a tanker has come to our area to provide water. Otherwise, most of us used mineral water," says Shahjahan Kifayatullah, a resident of Vinoba Bhave Nagar, a housing colony in Kurla.
