Medge said that soon after the wedding was announced, the dabbawallas were not sure whether to send a gift.
After consulting friends, they decided to send a pheta and traditional pair of shoes for the Prince and a sari and mangalsutra for Camilla.
"The sari was sponsored by a friend, who is doing his doctorate on dabbawallas," Medge said.
They were skeptical if the Prince would accept their gifts. But they were gladdened when Charles not only acknowledged the gifts, but also sent an invitation for the wedding.
When the invitation reached Medge, he was surprised. He doubted if somebody was playing a prank on him.
"The invite came on April 1. So, I thought somebody was trying to make a fool of us. But the next day, we visited the British High Commission to check. They confirmed the Prince had invited us for his wedding."
