Just one day before the Sringar-Muzaffarabad bus service was to be flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, militants attacked the Tourist Reception Centre in Srinagar.

Security agencies had housed the passengers of the bus in the tourist centre.

Two terrorists fired on the two buses to be flagged off by the prime minister and then entered the tourist centre.

Even as security forces engaged the intruders, the building went up in flames.

The building is a stone's throw away from Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed's official residence.
