The city of Mumbai is witnessing heightened fervour and activity as Lord Ganesha is here for his annual ten-day sojourn.
The city has come up with thousands of big and small pandals in which Ganapati idols of all shapes and sizes reside. In homes and at sarvajanik (public) places the loud clanging of cymbals, beating of
drums, and rhythmic notes of popular Ganesh bhajans are heard.
Mumbai is known for its contemporary theme-based decorations in sarvajanik pandals and enormous Ganesha idols.
Take a tour of some of these idols with photographer Deepak Salvi.
