As summer approaches, such scenes are common on Indian roads.

It is the time when markets are flooded with aircoolers, airconditioners and fans.

Everyone though can't afford airconditioners.

A favourite up north, where temperatures can shoot up to 48o C are air coolers. Also called desert coolers, they are affordable at a starting price of Rs 4,000.

With rising incomes, airconditioners are now within the reach of the middle class.

The airconditioner market in India is worth over Rs 15 billion and growing at approximately 25 percent every year.
