Amma, as Mata Amritanandmayi Devi is known to hundreds of thousands of her followers the world over, arrived in New York City on July 17 for three days of public programmes.

Like always, Amma embraced and whispered soothing words in the ears of a flood of followers who sought her blessings.

Amma, who is also known as the 'Hugging Saint,' has been fighting world suffering by tirelessly hugging anyone who sought her compassion. Her followers say she has hugged about 21 million people.
