The evangelist's sermon was backed up by constant flow of hymns from a 1,000-strong choir, surely the largest seen at a Christian event in India in recent times.

Benny Hinn added a dash of patriotism by asking a member of the choir and the audience to sing the Jana Gana Mana at the start of the event.

"It was a great prayer service," said one Catholic who disregarded the Archbishop of Mumbai's call to abstain from Hinn's event. "It gave many of us, especially the Catholic church, a wake up call to work hard for its flock."
