Family and friends, dressed in their best ethnic wear, gathered at the State theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on March 21, to cheer participants of the Naya Andaz, a Bollywood dance competition. It was hosted by television star Apara Mehta, and judged by Malaika Arora Khan and Arbaaz Khan.
About eight schools, across New York and New Jersey, participated in Naya Andaz in their 17th year of providing a platform to mostly young Indian Americans.
Manisha and Sonal Shah, came to cheer their 13 year old daughter Anokhi, who performed in the senior group because of her height, for the Satrangi School of Fusion. "She has been rehearsing from 10am to 5pm every weekend for the last month," Sonal says.
