Well-known director Suresh Krissna who has helmed some of the big blockbusters and big stars like Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Mohan Babu and Venkatesh, is back to direct a Telugu film Mestri after a hiatus of three years.
This time he directs none other than the veteran director Dasari Narayan Rao himself -- a man who is an institution in the Telugu film industry.
Radhika Rajamani caught up with Suresh Krissna as he take a break from DTS mixing to talk about Mestri, Dasari and forthcoming films.
What made you accept Mestri? Was it the fact that the veteran Dasari Narayan Rao is acting in it?
We go back a long way. I worked as an assistant with him in a Hindi film Yeh Kaisa Insaaf [a remake of his Telugu film Idhi Ekkadi Nyayam] which was a LV Prasad Production way back in 1979.
From an assistant to directing a legendary personality like him, thirty years later feels good.
He's done 150 films and has entered the Guinness Book of World Records (for directing most number of films in Telugu). To direct him is like offering guru dakshina. I am thankful that I am able to do it. How can you really give back to people like him and Balachander Sir?
If Mestri is a hit like Annamalai (produced by Balachander) I will be happy. My karmic debt will be fulfilled. This is such an opportunity.
