Mahalaxmi Iyer
Iyer, who took Urdu classes to cover her South Indian accent, made her singing debut with A R Rahman's Dil Se. Then came a slew of hit soundtracks, from Mission Kashmir and Saathiya to Salaam Namaste and Fanaa.
And finally, she sang India's very own Oscar-winning song Jai Ho along with Sukhwinder Singh for A R Rahman's Slumdog Millionaire. Wow.
