'Victory' Venkatesh has emerged triumphant with awards yet again. The Telugu actor has been awarded another Nandi for his performance in the 2007 hit Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule(AMAV), directed by Selvaraghavan.
Venkatesh, however seems unfazed by his fame. The only thing he looks for is challenging roles, something different, which is understandable as he has been in showbiz for more than two decades.
In a relaxed chat at the Ramanaidu Studios in Hyderabad, Venkatesh talks about AMAV, the Nandi and his future projects.
You have another Nandi now. Awards have become a part of your film career. How do you treat them now?
It's a good feeling to win, especially for some films which have good values. Producers and directors are encouraged to make films like that. In the initial stages of the profession, one felt good receiving awards. Now it’s become a part of the profession and I have tasted many. So one looks for something more.
I'll be happy if I get a challenging role and be appreciated at the national level. One should not look at awards, but should work towards them. I don't plan or work like that. One must take a call on doing films in the genre where one can get awards. And I like to leave that open. If someone offers me a role like what Amitabh Bachchan did in Black, I'll do that. I'm open to challenging roles. At the same time, I still look at films as a commercially viable proposition.
