'I never thought Slumdog Millionaire would take me to the Golden Globes'
Freida Pinto is flying high. After a smashing debut in Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, the model-turned-actress got a chance to go to the Golden Globes and talk to her favourite Hollywood stars.
A daughter of a school principal and banker, Freida never expected her life to take such a turn. But the success has only just started.
She talks to Patcy N about her experiences, and Slumdog's Oscar chances:
Did you ever think Slumdog Millionaire would win the Golden Globes?
When I was shooting this film in 2007, I knew it would be something that I would always remember because it was my first film. But I never thought it would take me all over America, London and the Golden Globes! It has come as a big surprise for me.

What was it like, going to the Globes?
It was a very humbling experience. When something so big happens when you least expect, it doesn't really sink in. I have to keep reminding myself that I was present at the Golden Globes, and the film has won four awards.
I was like a girl lost in wonderland among all the people, who were dressed up really well, and meeting people who I have idolised all my life. I have watched them on television and on the big screen, I have loved their performances, and then I was actually walking next to them and being in the room same as them. I got immense pleasure just standing in front of them and breathing the same air that they were breathing! It was the most beautiful experience ever.
